This heifer is 18 months old and would make a nice pet or pasture ornament for someone who loves farm animals. We won't be keeping her for our beef herd because she's much too small. Her mom weighed 950 lbs. full grown, which isn't much for a beef cow. She produced many calves and lived a long healthy life. We don't expect this heifer to reach full size either, and we think they may carry the dwarfism gene that occasionally is seen in Herefords. At 1 1/2 years old, she weighs what a normal cow would weigh at about 7 months. She's always been a sweetie, and we can throw a halter on her and pet her all over. Once she gets to know you, you can too. She's very gentle and easy to handle. She's up to date on all vaccinations and wormer and has always been very healthy. If you have a small pasture for her, she'd be a great addition. i'd like to be able to keep her but we raise big cows not little ones... We have a very nice, fat, steer that's an Angus / Belgium cross. He's been fed on grass and natural forage as well as an alfalfa / grass mix hay, no grain. No chemicals. I would assume he would fall into the organic category since there have been no additives to his feed except a mineral salt block. He is an April calf and is good size and ready to go. We may possibly share the beef if someone is interested, we only need 1/4 of a steer to keep our freezer full. We also have his mom for sale, she's an Angus/ Belgium cow 5 years old with a bald face and short horns. Also, another cow, about 5 years old, Belgium and her yearling Angus / Belgium heifer calf, solid black and a beauty! Would be happy to make a package sale on the 4 of them for $2500.00. Or, trade for something that doesn't eat. The photos were taken this spring, the bald face black is the steer, the stocky blue/black is the Belgium cow, the black one is the yearling heifer and the brown with the bald face is the steers mom, she's Belgium and Angus. |
