| Description | Mapping and preparing field for planting new vineyards, New vineyards establishment and development. Pest and disease monitoring. Modeling spraying and fertilization programs Hiring and instructing new and existing workers for chemical and work safety. Communicating with vineyard foreman, supervisors and administration. Resolving conflicts. Managing chemical storage, field sampling, field experimentation. Collecting and entering data into computer. Negotiating with wineries, monitoring grape ripening and determining picking time. Quality control, weather station service, working with field data and forecasting pest and disease management. Vine training and canopy management. Determining vigor and capacity of vines adjusting the amount of pruning/pruning formulas/, vigor control, rootstocks and clones, irrigation, machinery and equipment inspection and maintenance. Vineyard evaluation and trouble shooting, vineyard abandonment, erosion control, cover crop. Modeling vineyard annual plan and budget, record keeping. Pruning, shoot thinning, spraying, canopy maintenance and repairing. |
